Crystal Yu is a talented actress with roots in both Hong Kong and Britain, known for her work across television, film, and theatre. She gained significant recognition for her portrayal of Dr. Lily Chao on the BBC medical drama Casualty, where she was a cast member from 2013 until 2017.

Born in Hong Kong, Yu relocated to London at the age of 11 to pursue her passion for the performing arts after being accepted into the prestigious Elmhurst School of Dance and Performing Arts, previously known as Elmhurst Ballet School.

In addition to her acting career, Yu is dedicated to giving back to the community. She actively collaborates with The Royal Academy of Dance and The Jack Petchey Foundation, helping to implement dance programs in secondary schools, Special Educational Needs institutions, and Pupil Referral Units. Fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, she brings a diverse perspective to her work.

Her performance as Dr. Chao earned her a nomination for Female Actress of the Year at the BEAM Awards in 2016, which honors minority talent in the entertainment industry. After her final appearance on Casualty aired on November 4, 2017, Yu continued to expand her repertoire, featuring in episodes of Doctor Who and Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman in 2022. The following year, she took on the role of Ms. Cheng in another Gaiman adaptation, Good Omens.
