Ruth Pelupessy

Ruth Pelupessy was a prominent Indonesian actress, model, and entrepreneur, recognized as the "antagonist queen" of Indonesian cinema, following in the footsteps of legendary figures Suzzanna and Mieke Wijaya.

Born on April 27, 1938, in Bangka Island, Dutch East Indies, Ruth was the eldest of four siblings in the Pelupessy family. Her mother, Christina Moniyung, and father, Jacob Pelupessy, nurtured her passion for the performing arts. Alongside her sisters—Joice Wangi Pelupessy, Joyce Pelupessy, and Hanny Pelupessy—Ruth made a significant mark in the entertainment industry during the 1950s, becoming one of the most celebrated stars in Bandung.
