June Walker
June Walker (June 14, 1900 – February 3, 1966) was a prominent American actress known for her compelling performances on both stage and screen. With a vibrant career spanning several decades, Walker made significant contributions to Broadway, starring in notable productions such as "Green Grow the Lilacs," "The Farmer Takes a Wife," and Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night." She gained fame as the inaugural actress to bring the character Lorelei Lee to life in the original 1926 Broadway staging of "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes."
In addition to her Broadway success, Walker showcased her talent in classic plays, including portraying Linda Loman alongside Thomas Mitchell's Willy in the 1949 touring production of "Death of a Salesman." Her versatility also led her to tour as Vinnie in "Life with Father," solidifying her reputation as a dynamic performer.
In her personal life, Walker married British actor Geoffrey Kerr in 1926, with whom she had a son, John Kerr, who later became an actor. The couple divorced in 1943. Notably, Walker appeared alongside her son in a 1954 episode of NBC's "Justice," marking his first foray into acting.
June Walker passed away on February 3, 1966, at the age of 65, from undisclosed causes. She was laid to rest at the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles, leaving behind a legacy of theatrical excellence and memorable performances.
