Phillipa Dunne hails from County Dublin, but spent her formative years in County Mayo, Ireland. She honed her acting skills at the Gaiety School of Acting, launching her professional journey in 2009 with a debut in the television film *Dublin Stories*. Shortly after, she made an appearance in the series *Rental Boys*. In 2010, she showcased her talents not just as an actress but also as a writer with *The Taste of Home*, where she both co-wrote and performed.

Dunne garnered wider recognition in 2014 when she created and starred in the RTÉ One comedy *The Walshes*, playing the role of Carmel Walsh. Her career flourished as she secured a recurring role as Anne Flynn in the BBC Two series *Motherland*, featuring in all 19 episodes from 2016 onwards. In 2019, she joined the cast of the acclaimed Channel 4 sitcom *Derry Girls* as Geraldine Devlin, the mother of Clare Devlin, and continued to charm audiences until the show's conclusion in May 2022.

Following this success, Dunne took on the role of Ria, the receptionist, in the BBC One medical comedy-drama *This Is Going to Hurt*, which premiered on February 8, 2022. Additionally, she showcased her knowledge as a contestant on *Celebrity Mastermind*, with a focus on Stanley Kubrick’s iconic 1980 film *The Shining*. Outside of her professional life, Dunne is married and welcomed a child in late 2020, who made a cameo in the third series of *Motherland* as Niamh, the daughter of her character.
