Nataša Burger embarked on her academic journey in 1986 at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, but her passion for film led her to pursue film direction in Prague. During her studies, she produced a variety of short films and documentaries that showcased her developing talent. Upon returning to Slovenia, she established her own theater company, Burgerteater, in 1997, where she directed and created notable works, including the plays "Piki" and "Romi" (1997) and "Mrs. Margareta" (1999), alongside numerous improvised performances.

Burger made her feature film debut with "V leru" in 1997, which premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 1999, earning her critical acclaim and a total of 20 awards, while being showcased at over 60 film festivals worldwide. Her second feature, "Ruševine" (2002), garnered 13 awards in Slovenia, with its international premiere occurring at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2005.

In collaboration with Jani Cvitkovič, she co-founded the production company STARAGARA, which produced the film "Odgrobadogroba" (From-grave-to-grave). Burger's third feature film, "Circus Fantasticus," released in 2010, was a multinational project involving Slovenia, Ireland, Finland, and Sweden, supported by the European film council EURIMAGES. Through her innovative storytelling and dedication to the arts, Nataša Burger has made significant contributions to the film and theater landscape.
