Gregory Shane Helms is a notable American professional wrestler best known for his dynamic performances in WWE and WCW. Currently, he holds a legends contract with WWE, where he contributes both as a performer and a backstage producer. Over the years, Helms has portrayed several personas, including The Hurricane and Gregory Helms, while initially gaining recognition in WCW as "Sugar" Shane Helms.

Helms embarked on his wrestling journey at the young age of 17 in 1991, competing in various independent circuits, most notably with the Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts. His talent shone through as he captured multiple light heavyweight and tag team titles. In 1999, he joined WCW, where he gained fame as a member of the musical group 3 Count and secured both the WCW Hardcore Championship and the WCW Cruiserweight Championship.

When WWE acquired WCW, Helms transitioned to WWE, adopting the superhero gimmick of "The Hurricane." He enjoyed significant success, winning the WWE Cruiserweight Championship and later teaming up with Rosey to clinch the World Tag Team Championship. In 2005, he shifted to wrestling under his real name, regaining the Cruiserweight Championship in 2006 and achieving a record-setting reign, the longest for any champion in SmackDown history.

After a hiatus due to neck surgery, Helms made his comeback in 2008, briefly reviving his Hurricane persona before returning to his Gregory Helms identity as a backstage interviewer. Despite being released in 2010, he made surprise entries in the Royal Rumble matches in 2018 and 2021, showcasing his enduring legacy in the wrestling world.
