Shingo Katori
Shingo Katori (香取 慎吾) is a multifaceted Japanese entertainer known for his work as an actor, singer, television host, and radio personality. He gained prominence as the youngest member of SMAP, one of Asia's most successful boy bands. After SMAP disbanded in December 2016, Katori embarked on a solo career, marking a significant shift in his professional journey.
In 2017, he, alongside fellow SMAP members Goro Inagaki and Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, made the decision to leave Johnny & Associates and join CULEN, a new talent agency. On September 22, 2017, the trio unveiled an innovative project called "atarashiichizu" (新しい地図), or "New Map," which serves as a fan site supported by prominent creators from across Japan. This initiative reflects Katori's commitment to forging new paths in the entertainment industry.
Since transitioning to a solo career, Katori has broadened his artistic pursuits, engaging in various creative endeavors beyond music and television. His dynamic presence and versatility continue to resonate with audiences, solidifying his status as a beloved figure in Japanese pop culture.
