Mandy-Rae Cruikshank
Mandy-Rae Cruickshank, born on May 10, 1974, in Vancouver, British Columbia, is an esteemed free-diver known for her extraordinary achievements in the sport. As a champion and record-holder, she has made significant contributions to the world of free-diving.
Cruikshank has established multiple records, including the women's world record for constant ballast, where she achieved a remarkable depth of 88 meters (289 feet) on a single breath in April 2007 in the Cayman Islands. Earlier, on April 8, 2005, she made history in the Constant Weight without fins discipline by diving 50 meters. Just days later, on April 11, 2005, she excelled in the Free Immersion discipline, reaching a depth of 74 meters by utilizing a line to pull herself down and up.
In 2004, as captain of the Canadian free-diving team at the AIDA World Freediving Championships, Cruickshank led her team, which included Jade Leutenegger and Jessica Apedaile, to a stunning first-place finish.
Her talents also caught the public eye in May 2006 when she participated as a safety diver in magician David Blaine’s Drowned Alive show, where she played a crucial role in ensuring Blaine's safety during a high-stakes breath-holding performance.
