Tibor Szervét
Tibor Szervét, born on March 1, 1958, in Cegléd, Hungary, is a distinguished Hungarian actor, theater director, and accomplished lawyer, recognized with the prestigious Jászai Mari Award. He completed his doctoral studies at Eötvös Loránd University’s Faculty of Law in 1982 and enrolled in the Hungarian Academy of Drama and Film (now known as the University of Theatre and Film Arts) in 1984, where he honed his craft under the guidance of notable mentors such as Imre Kerényi, Péter Huszti, and József Ruszt.
Szervét's career took off at the Szeged National Theatre in 1988, followed by co-founding the Independent Stage with József Ruszt in 1989. Between 1991 and 1994, he served as a leading artist at the Miskolc National Theatre, where he gained acclaim for his compelling character portrayals. In 1994, he joined the Vígszínház, where he remained for three years, participating in productions like "Cyrano." His tenure at Radnóti Theatre from 1997 to 2014 showcased his versatility in roles, earning him several artistic and audience awards. Since 2014, he has been a member of the Thália Theatre.
Among his most memorable performances are the title roles in "Cyrano" and "Hamlet," as well as significant appearances in "Ványa bácsi" and "Anconai szerelmesek." Szervét has also made a mark in film, with standout roles in "Valami Amerika," "Magyar vándor," and "Apacsok." His ability to captivate audiences with unique interpretations solidifies his reputation in the Hungarian performing arts.
