Mengke Bateer
Mengke Bateer (simplified Chinese: 孟克巴特尔; traditional Chinese: 孟克巴特爾; pinyin: Mèngkè Bātè'ěr; born November 20, 1975) is a former professional basketball player from Inner Mongolia, China, widely known as Bateer. He played the center position and had a brief stint in the NBA, where he participated in parts of three seasons and celebrated an NBA Finals victory during one of them.
Although his time in the NBA was short-lived, Bateer made a significant impact in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), where he spent the majority of his career. He achieved notable success with the Beijing Ducks, helping the team secure a CBA championship. Later, he played for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, before concluding his professional journey with the Sichuan Blue Whales in the National Basketball League.
In his final season in the NBA with the Toronto Raptors, Mengke recorded a total of 8 points. His contributions to basketball, both domestically and internationally, have made him a respected figure in the sport, particularly in his home country. Bateer’s legacy continues to inspire aspiring athletes in China and beyond.
