**Mercedes Pascual: A Life in Art and Performance**
Mercedes Pascual, born in Spain, relocated to Mexico at the tender age of nine due to the upheaval of the Spanish Civil War. In her new homeland, she embraced the world of performing arts, beginning with ballet classes that led her to join the Ballet Moderno de Bellas Artes and the Ballet de Opera de Bellas Artes. She later honed her acting skills under maestro Seki Sano and at the Andrés Soler Theater Academy. Pascual made her theatrical debut in the play *La soga* in 1952, the same year she became a naturalized Mexican citizen.
A prominent figure in the theater community, Pascual was a key founder of the National Theater Company and rejoined its cast in 2008 after its restructuring. Her talent was recognized in 2012 when she was honored as a Number One actress. Throughout her extensive career, she appeared in numerous films, including *Persíguelas y alcánzalas*, *El retrato de Anabella*, and *Cilantro y perejil*, the latter earning her an Ariel nomination.
