He showcased his saxophone skills while performing in various bands throughout Europe, gracing stages at prestigious venues such as the Edinburgh Festival, Wembley Arena, and the Royal Albert Hall. At 16, Fagbenle's life took a pivotal turn when he was cast in a Nigerian production of Macbeth. Initially hired as a musician, his talent led to a speaking role, igniting his passion for acting. His impressive performance earned him the lead role in the play's revival, confirming his path in the arts.

Fagbenle honed his craft at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, graduating early in 2001 alongside illustrious alumni like Sean Bean and Ralph Fiennes. His theatrical journey included standout performances in productions such as Ragamuffin, Romeo & Juliet (as Mercutio), and the West End debut of Porgy and Bess. Transitioning to film and television, Fagbenle made his debut in the 2006 film Breaking and Entering alongside Jude Law and Juliette Binoche.
