Gudrun Gut

Gudrun Gut, born on May 20, 1957, is a prominent figure in the German electronic music scene, celebrated as a musician, DJ, music producer, and the visionary founder of the Monika Enterprise record label.

Raised in the picturesque Lüneburger Heide region, Gut relocated to West Berlin in 1975, where she immersed herself in the study of visual arts at the Hochschule der Künste from 1978 until 1984. Her musical journey began as an early member of the influential band Einstürzende Neubauten, and she later co-founded several notable groups, including Mania D, Malaria!, and Matador. She also collaborated with Myra Davies on the spoken word project Miasma, which helped pave the way for her flourishing solo career.

As the driving force behind Monika Enterprise and its sister label Moabit Musik, Gut has significantly shaped the Berlin music landscape. She co-hosted the Oceanclub radio program alongside Thomas Fehlmann, further solidifying her presence in the industry. Her solo debut, "I Put a Record On," released on February 5, 2007, received acclaim for its inviting sound.

Recognized by The Wire magazine in April 2008, which featured her on the cover, Gut has been a cornerstone of Berlin's avant-garde music scene for three decades. In 2024, she expanded her artistic expression by producing a three-part autobiographical miniseries for the German broadcaster RBB, showcasing her multifaceted contributions to music and culture.
