Camille Bonora
Camille Bonora, born on May 13, 1956, in New Jersey, is a distinguished former Muppet performer and an influential figure in theological education. A graduate of the Catholic University of America, Bonora was a Phi Beta Kappa member who initially made her mark in musical and improvisational comedy.
From 1985 to 1997, she contributed her talents to The Muppets, becoming a vital part of the beloved franchise. Her legacy includes mentoring fellow puppeteer Joey Mazzarino, whom she inspired during her improvisation classes at Fordham University. Bonora played a key role in introducing Mazzarino to Jim Henson, leading him to a successful career as the head writer for Sesame Street and involvement in various Muppet productions, including The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland and Kermit's Swamp Years.
After retiring from her performing career in 1996, Bonora co-founded the Kairos Journal alongside her husband, Emmanuel A. Kampouris. The journal serves as an invaluable online resource for pastors and church leaders, providing access to biblical references, historical insights, and scholarly commentary. In addition to her editorial work, she actively participates on the board of BibleMesh, an online platform dedicated to theological studies.
