Ronald Pierce "Ron" Ely, born on June 21, 1938, in Hereford, Texas, is a distinguished American actor and author celebrated for his iconic roles in television and film. Ely gained fame for his portrayal of the legendary character Tarzan in the 1966 NBC series, a role that showcased his impressive physique and charisma. He further solidified his status as a leading man by starring in the 1975 adventure film Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze.

Ely's early career included small roles, such as an airplane navigator in the 1958 musical South Pacific and appearances on shows like How to Marry a Millionaire, featuring Barbara Eden. His towering height of 6' 4" and athletic build allowed him to excel in action-oriented roles, including a memorable guest appearance as Mark Antony on Fantasy Island.

From 1960 to 1961, he headlined the series The Aquanauts, and later in the 1980s, Ely took on the role of host for the musical game show Face the Music. He also hosted the Miss America Pageants in 1980 and 1981, stepping in for the beloved Bert Parks.

In the 1990s, Ely appeared in Superboy as a retired Superman and had a role in the syndicated Tarzán series. Transitioning to writing, he authored two mystery novels featuring private investigator Jake Sands: Night Shadows (1994) and East Beach (1995). Ely has since retired from acting, leaving behind a legacy as a versatile performer and storyteller.
