Born on June 4, 1946, he passed away on September 25, 2020. S. P. Balu was an accomplished playback singer, music director, actor, dubbing artist, and film producer, primarily contributing to the Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, and Malayalam film industries.

Over the course of his illustrious career, he recorded an astonishing 40,000 songs across 16 Indian languages, earning him a Guinness World Record for the most songs recorded by a solo artist. His exceptional talent garnered him six National Film Awards for Best Male Playback Singer, encompassing four different languages: Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. Additionally, he was awarded 25 Nandi Awards from the Andhra Pradesh government for his significant contributions to Telugu cinema, alongside numerous accolades from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

His accolades also include the prestigious Filmfare Award and six Filmfare South Awards. In recognition of his impact on Indian cinema, he was awarded the NTR National Award in 2012 and the Silver Peacock Medal as the Indian Film Personality of the Year in 2016.
