Hannele Lauri
Ritva Hannele Lauri, born on July 21, 1952, in Tampere, Finland, is a celebrated Finnish actress recognized primarily for her contributions to comedy television and stage performances. Originally named Hannele Markkula, she is the daughter of Arvi Markkula, a colonel, and Eine Markkula, a shopkeeper. In 1976, she wed fellow actor Hannu Lauri, with whom she had two sons, Sami and Tomi, before their divorce in 1994. She later had a brief marriage to Teemu Rinne in the early 2000s.
Lauri honed her craft at the Theatre School and commenced her professional journey at the Jyväskylä City Theatre from 1975 to 1977. Following this, she freelanced until 1981 and briefly joined the Turku City Theatre before securing a long-term position at the Helsinki City Theatre beginning in 1983. Early in her career, she portrayed roles such as Ophelia and collaborated with prominent directors like Risto Jarva and Jaakko Pakkasvirta.
Her rise to fame came in the 1980s through her work with the iconic Spede Pasanen, featuring in a string of popular television shows and comedy films alongside actor Vesa-Matti Loiri. Lauri remained a household name, notably starring in the 1990s sitcom "Hynttyyt yhteen" alongside Eija Vilpas. In 2003, she took on the role of a menopausal woman in "Kuumia aaltoja" ("Hot Waves"). Throughout the 2010s, Hannele Lauri continued to make her mark with supporting roles in Finnish cinema and regular television appearances, all while maintaining her stage career.
