Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs

Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs is a distinguished American actor and singer, recognized for his impressive contributions to film and television. Born in New York City, New York, he is the youngest of nine siblings born to West Indian parents, Hilton and Clothilda Jacobs. His journey in the arts began in the summer of 1969, following his graduation from the High School of Art and Design in 1971. He honed his craft with the acclaimed Negro Ensemble Company and the Al Fann Theatrical Ensemble, which laid the foundation for his successful career.

Hilton-Jacobs gained widespread fame in 1975 when he was cast as Freddie "Boom Boom" Washington in the beloved ABC sitcom, *Welcome Back, Kotter*. His portrayal of the vibrant character resonated with audiences and became a defining role in his career. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he showcased his talent in various significant productions, including the films *Claudine* (1974) and *Cooley High* (1975), as well as the groundbreaking miniseries *Roots* (1977). He also appeared in *Bangers and Mash* (1983) and the 1992 biographical miniseries *The Jacksons: An American Dream*.
