**Biography of Liz Mitchell**
Elizabeth Rebecca Pemberton-Mitchell MBE, born on July 12, 1952, is a distinguished British vocalist renowned for her role as one of the original members of the iconic 1970s disco and reggae ensemble, Boney M.
Mitchell's journey began in Clarendon, Jamaica, where she was born. At the age of eleven, her family relocated to Harlesden, England, in 1963. By the late 1960s, she had made a significant mark by auditioning for the musical *Hair*, which led her to West Berlin, where she replaced the legendary Donna Summer in the German production. Following this, she joined the Les Humphries Singers and represented West Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Sing Sang Song," marking a pivotal moment in her early career.
In February 1976, she was invited by Katja Wolff's agency to join a new project orchestrated by producer Frank Farian, ultimately leading to the formation of Boney M. As the lead vocalist, Mitchell propelled the group to international stardom with hits like "Rivers of Babylon" and "Daddy Cool." She remained with Boney M. until their disbandment in 1986.
In 1987, after a brief hiatus, Mitchell rejoined Boney M. for a tour, collaborating with new members after some original members did not return.
