Lieu, born on March 29, 1969, is a distinguished American attorney, politician, and retired military officer currently serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 36th congressional district since 2023. Prior to this, he represented the 33rd congressional district from 2015 to 2023, which encompasses the South Bay and Westside areas of Los Angeles, along with iconic locations such as Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, and the Beach Cities.

Lieu's journey began when he emigrated from Taiwan at the age of three, making him one of the 18 naturalized citizens in Congress. His political career includes serving in the California State Senate for the 28th district from 2011 to 2014, after winning the seat previously held by the late Senator Jenny Oropeza.
