Alexandra Moen
Alexandra Moen, born in Pisa, Italy, has enjoyed a diverse upbringing due to her father's career as an oceanographer. This role led her family, including her teacher mother and two younger brothers, on various relocations around the globe. At the age of six, she moved to Canada, later living in Bermuda, and ultimately finishing her education in England. Moen pursued her love of literature, earning a degree in English from Leeds University before transitioning to acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.
Her professional stage career took off in 2002, marking her debut in the West End's production of 'Macbeth' under the direction of Edward Hall. In 2003, she garnered critical acclaim for her portrayal of "Nina" in Steven Pimlott's production of Chekhov's 'The Seagull' at Chichester Theatre. Moen's first major television role came in 2006 as "Tamsin Dalgliesh" in 'Tripping Over', followed by her portrayal of "Emily James" in the final seasons of BBC's popular drama 'Hotel Babylon'.
She gained significant recognition in the sci-fi realm for her role in 'Doctor Who', where she faced off against the Doctor’s formidable adversary, the Master. More recently, Moen has captivated audiences as the eccentric Norwegian pathologist "Petra Bergen" in Sky Atlantic's 'Fortitude', a role she held until 2018. In 2019, she stepped into the shoes of "Elizabeth of York" in Starz's adaptation of Philippa Gregory's 'Spanish Princess', and played "Simone Cameron", a devoted ballet instructor, in the BBC series 'Dublin Murders'.
