Timmy O'Neill
Timmy O'Neill is a renowned professional rock climber, accomplished first ascensionist, and impactful public speaker. He gained early recognition through his remarkable speed ascents of El Capitan in Yosemite, a towering 3,000-foot rock face. Driven by a passion for exploration and social change, O'Neill has committed his life to what he calls "adventure impact," where outdoor experiences meet meaningful contributions to society.
As a co-founder and former executive director of Paradox Sports, a national non-profit organization, he has played a pivotal role in integrating individuals with disabilities into the world of outdoor recreation. Under his leadership, Paradox Sports produced the first adaptive climbing manual and certification, along with establishing several enduring climbing programs. O'Neill and his brother Sean, who is a T-12 paraplegic, have summited El Capitan multiple times, earning them the prestigious Excellence in Mountaineering award.
In addition to his climbing endeavors, Timmy has dedicated over a decade to volunteering as an ophthalmic technician with the Himalayan Cataract Project/CureBlindness.org, focusing on combating preventable blindness in countries across Sub-Saharan Africa, including Ethiopia and South Sudan.
Currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area, O'Neill is also the founder of Joy Merchants, which offers multi-day outdoor retreats designed to foster deep connections through curated experiences. His unwavering energy and passion continue to inspire others, as he shares insights from both his climbing and humanitarian work.
