John Turner, born on July 7, 1932, is a distinguished British actor celebrated for his extensive work in television and film. Among his most memorable performances is the character Roderick Spode in the acclaimed ITV series "Jeeves and Wooster," which aired from 1991 to 1993. This role marked a significant return for Turner, who had previously embodied Spode in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical adaptation, "Jeeves," at Her Majesty's Theatre, a production that did not achieve commercial success. In addition to this, he showcased his musical talents in the role of Juan Perón in "Evita" at the Prince Edward Theatre and played Molokov in Tim Rice’s "Chess." He was also part of the original West End cast of "Pippin," portraying Charlemagne at His Majesty's Theatre.

Turner’s television career commenced in 1957 with a role as a hillbilly in "Operation Fracture."
