Joe Ventricelli
**Biography of Joe Ventricelli**
Joe Ventricelli was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, and grew up in the tranquil town of Redding, Connecticut, where his journey into the world of theatre began in an unexpected manner. Redding, a small community surrounded by nature and just an hour from New York City, provided a unique backdrop for Joe’s early creative explorations. As the oldest of three siblings, he took on the role of caretaker and entertainer, crafting imaginative stories and engaging in outdoor adventures.
The rural yet intellectually vibrant environment of Redding fostered Joe's diverse interests. He played ice hockey from age four until his freshman year of college and enjoyed activities like hiking and swimming. His first job, which he held through college, was with the state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), where he acquired skills in carpentry, auto mechanics, and heavy machinery. This hands-on experience enriched his appreciation for responsibility and craftsmanship.
In addition to sports, Joe was involved in his school’s choirs and musicals, landing roles such as Judah in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and Agwe in "Once on This Island." These experiences, combined with his love for classic R&B and Jazz, helped him discover his unique vocal talent.
Upon graduating from high school, Joe faced a decision between continuing with his DEP job or pursuing his passion for theatre. He chose the latter, applying to twelve colleges and gaining admission to two, ultimately selecting Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned a BFA in Drama in 2014.
Since relocating to Manhattan, Joe has participated in numerous acclaimed productions, including "Sleep No More," a national tour of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," "Into the Woods," Barrington Stage Company's "Ragtime," and Off-Broadway's "Shake & Bake," solidifying his place in the vibrant theatre scene.
