Dina Sfat

Dina Sfat, born Dina Kutner in São Paulo on October 28, 1938, was a prominent Brazilian actress of Jewish descent, renowned for her compelling performances in film and television. She launched her cinematic career in 1966 with the film *O Corpo Ardente*, but it was her role in *Três Histórias de Amor* that truly marked her rise, earning her the title of 'female revelation' at the Cabo Frio Film Festival. Sfat continued to impress audiences with her outstanding portrayal in *Os Deuses e os Mortos*, which garnered her the 'Best Actress' award at the Brasília Festival. She further solidified her talent with a 'Best Supporting Actress' win for her role in *O Homem do Pau-brasil*. Additionally, her performance in *A Culpa* earned her the 'Best Actress' accolade from the Air France Awards.

Sfat made her television debut in 1966 with the soap opera *Ciúme* on Rede Tupi, but it was during the 1970s that she gained notable acclaim, winning 'Best Actress' three times at the Imprensa Trophy for her roles in *Fogo sobre Terra*, *Saramandaia*, and *Os Gigantes*. She also secured recognition from the APCA Award for her portrayal of Fernanda in *Selva de Pedra*.

In 2009, her legacy was honored with the establishment of the Dina Sfat Award, initiated by her friend and fellow actress Itala Nandi, to celebrate actresses who embody Sfat's spirit as exceptional artists, devoted mothers, and politically engaged individuals. Dina Sfat passed away on March 20, 1989, in Rio de Janeiro, leaving behind a rich legacy in Brazilian cinema and television.
