Kim Wilde

Kim Wilde, born Kim Smith on November 18, 1960, is a celebrated English pop singer, DJ, and television host. She rose to prominence in 1981 with her groundbreaking debut single "Kids in America," which soared to No. 2 on the UK charts. Her talent earned her the prestigious Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist in 1983. In 1986, Wilde achieved further acclaim with a reimagined version of the Supremes' classic "You Keep Me Hangin' On," which not only reached No. 2 in the UK but also topped the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1987. Over her career from 1981 to 1996, she celebrated 25 singles that made it into the UK Top 50, including notable tracks like "Chequered Love," "You Came," and "Never Trust a Stranger."

In 2003, her collaboration with Nena on "Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime" became a chart-topping hit in the Netherlands and Austria. Wilde holds the distinction of being the most successful British female solo artist of the 1980s, with seventeen Top 40 hits in the UK.
