Markku Peltola
Markku Peltola (July 12, 1956 – December 31, 2007) was a prominent Finnish actor and musician, whose artistic journey began in his hometown of Helsinki. He played a significant role in the establishment of the Telakka Theater in Tampere, where he showcased his acting talents.
Peltola gained widespread recognition for his performance in Aki Kaurismäki's critically acclaimed film, The Man Without a Past (2002), which earned an Academy Award nomination. His filmography includes notable works such as V2 – jäätynyt enkeli, Young Gods, Drifting Clouds, Jade Warrior, and Perhoshäkki, each demonstrating his versatility as an actor.
In addition to his film career, Peltola was also a passionate musician. He served as the lead singer and bass guitarist for the Finnish band Motelli Skronkle since the 1980s. His musical endeavors extended to solo projects, with two albums to his credit: Buster Keatonin ratsutilalla, released by Ektro Records in 2003, and Buster Keaton tarkistaa idän ja lännen, which came out in early 2006.
Peltola's life came to a premature end on December 31, 2007, when he passed away at his home in Kangasala, Finland. His contributions to both film and music continue to resonate, solidifying his legacy in Finnish culture.
