Louis Del Grande
Louis Del Grande, an accomplished actor, writer, and producer, was born on March 23, 1943, in Union City, New Jersey. In 1964, he relocated to Toronto, inspired by the renowned Stratford Festival, and embarked on a career in comedy. He quickly rose through the ranks to become the head writer for the popular sitcom The King of Kensington, which enjoyed a successful run until the late 1970s. In addition to his writing contributions, Del Grande made memorable appearances on the show as Fred, a close friend of the lead character, and later took on the role of co-producer alongside Jack Humphries.
Del Grande's creative prowess continued to shine with his next major project, Seeing Things, which he not only created but also wrote and produced. This series aired from 1981 to 1987 and starred Del Grande as a clairvoyant tabloid journalist who unraveled mysteries. Notably, his real-life wife, Martha Gibson, played his character's spouse, adding a personal touch to the show. Seeing Things was well-received and garnered Del Grande four Gemini Awards, solidifying his status in Canadian television.
Additionally, he gained international acclaim for his role as the ConSec scanner in the iconic "head explosion" scene from David Cronenberg's film Scanners. Throughout his career, Del Grande has also appeared in various television movies and series, including Due South, The Outer Limits, and Goosebumps, further showcasing his versatile talent.
