Sophie Aldred
Sophie Aldred, a talented actress and presenter, was born in Greenwich, London, and raised in the nearby area of Blackheath. She pursued her passion for performance at Manchester University, earning a degree in drama. Upon graduating, Aldred began her career by performing in working men's clubs to secure her Equity Card, followed by engagements in children's theatre. Her breakthrough came when she starred in the fringe production "Underground Men" at a pub theatre in London, which led to her acquiring an agent and further roles in children's theatre.
Aldred is perhaps best known for her iconic portrayal of Ace, a companion to the Doctor in the long-running series "Doctor Who." While actively involved in the show, she also hosted a children's series titled "Corners," followed by "Melvin and Maureen's Music-a-grams," where she showcased her dual talents in acting and music. Her impressive stage career includes leading performances in productions like "Daisy Pulls It Off," and she portrayed Marjorie Pinchwite in the 1993 West End adaptation of "Lust," a modern take on "The Country Wife."
