Kim Thayil

Kim Anand Thayil, born on September 4, 1960, is a celebrated American musician renowned for his role as the lead guitarist of the influential rock band Soundgarden, which he co-established in 1984 alongside vocalist Chris Cornell and bassist Hiro Yamamoto. Soundgarden emerged from the vibrant Seattle music scene and played a pivotal role in shaping the grunge genre. Thayil, along with Cornell, remained integral to the band until Cornell's tragic passing in 2017, which preceded Soundgarden's disbandment in 2018.

Thayil's guitar work is characterized by its innovative riffs and distinctive sound, earning him widespread acclaim. In recognition of his talents, Rolling Stone ranked him as the 100th greatest guitarist of all time in 2010, while SPIN placed him at 67th in 2012.
