Dana Plato
Dana Michelle Plato, born on November 7, 1964, in Maywood, California, was an American actress who captured the hearts of audiences with her portrayal of Kimberly Drummond on the beloved sitcom *Diff'rent Strokes*, a role she held from 1978 until the show concluded in 1986. Despite her early success, including the fame and recognition that came with her character's popularity, Dana struggled to secure substantial acting opportunities after the series ended. Occasionally, she appeared in made-for-TV movies and independent films, but these roles were few and far between.
In her personal life, Dana married Lanny Lambert, with whom she had a son, but their marriage lasted only seven years. Unfortunately, her life took a downward turn when she faced legal troubles in the early 1990s, including a 1991 arrest for robbing a video store in Las Vegas and a subsequent arrest for forging a prescription for Valium.
On May 8, 1999, Dana was visiting her fiancé, Robert Menchaca, in Moore, Oklahoma, after an interview with Howard Stern, which she hoped would rejuvenate her career. Tragically, she died that day from what appeared to be an accidental overdose of the painkiller Loritab. Following a coroner's inquest, her death was ruled a suicide due to the significant levels of drugs found in her system and her prior history of suicide attempts. Dana Plato was only 34 years old at the time of her passing.
