Aileen Wu is a talented Chinese-American actor, director, writer, and producer, currently residing in Brooklyn, NY, and Vancouver, BC. Her experiences as a teenager navigating the complexities of immigration fueled her passion for creative storytelling, allowing her to explore themes of cultural understanding and empathy through her work.

Aileen made her off-Broadway debut in 2019, captivating audiences as Cordelia in the Smith Street Stage's reimagined production, LEAR: THAT OLD MAN I USED TO KNOW. The following year marked her directorial debut with THE POEM OF FORGETFULNESS, a groundbreaking play she produced for NYU’s Chinese Students & Scholars Association, utilizing a devised and experimental theatre approach.

In addition to her acting and directing accomplishments, Aileen has gained recognition as a producer. Notable projects include the theatre documentary HAMLET: REHEARSED for Smith Street Stage, and the narrative short film FISH TANK, which was created for the 2021 Run N’ Gun 48 Hr Filmmaking Competition. Her ultra-short film CLOSING DOORS also garnered acclaim, winning awards at the 16th Annual Mighty Asian Moviemaking Marathon during the Vancouver Asian Film Festival.

With each project, Aileen continues to push the boundaries of storytelling, using her platform to foster dialogue and connection across cultures.
