Born with a natural flair for creativity, he was brought to Tampa, Florida, at a young age, where he was adopted by an American family. His adoptive father, George, a distinguished professor at the University of South Florida specializing in film, television, and chemistry, played a pivotal role in shaping Shahin’s understanding of the arts and instilling in him a strong work ethic and appreciation for Western culture.
A defining moment in his early life occurred when he watched "Star Wars: A New Hope" at a local theater, igniting his passion for filmmaking and storytelling. Shahin's journey took a significant turn when his biological mother, renowned Persian pop singer Fataneh, managed to escape the Iranian Revolution of 1978 and reunite with him.
