She spent her early years in Nervi before pursuing her education at a Swiss institution and later at Poggio Imperiale girls' school. Boccardo continued her studies in England for three years, ultimately relocating to Rome in 1965 to train at the prestigious Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.
