Doctor Valois creates "flashage," a revolutionary treatment for depression, initially testing it on monkeys before moving to the human trial with Alain Durieux. While the results are promising and bring joy to many, Alain's wife, Jeanne, grows increasingly concerned about his altered personality. As more patients undergo the treatment, the effects ripple out, causing unrest among the untreated monkeys and humans alike, disturbed by the newfound stability of the cured. Faced with the chaos he’s unleashed, Valois opts to undergo the procedure himself, seeking to understand the consequences firsthand.
