Plot

Fourteen-year-old Susan Shawson discovers a time-traveling elevator in her Philadelphia building, thanks to an eccentric retired physicist. When the elevator whisks her back to 1881, she encounters Victoria Walker, a girl her age grappling with family issues. As the girls bond, Susan learns to harness the elevator's power, enabling her, Victoria, and her younger brother, Robert, to journey between eras. Their adventures lead to significant changes in both the past and the future, highlighting the impact of friendship and the importance of taking action in one’s life.
