Plot

Tohru Fujisawa's beloved manga about an unconventional high school teacher comes alive in this live-action comedy-drama. Eikichi Onizuka (Takashi Sorimachi), who scraped through his teaching degree at a lesser-known college, arrives on his motorcycle in Horobonai, a struggling rural town in Northern Japan, to work as a substitute teacher. With the local amusement park shut down, the town's youth have fallen into despair. However, Onizuka doesn't conform to the town's gloomy vibe; outspoken and defiant, he may not excel at teaching, but his bold approach and knack for engaging students breathe new energy into Horobonai.
