Rockville, Georgia, in 1972 becomes the backdrop for a poignant tale when Major Kendall Laird, a Survival Assistance Officer, arrives with the body of Lieutenant Dwyte Johnson, a decorated Vietnam veteran. Tasked with assisting Johnson's grieving parents in laying their son to rest, Laird faces unexpected hostility. The local white supremacists refuse to allow the burial of a black hero in the town's "all-white" cemetery, forcing Laird to confront deep-seated racism and advocate for the dignity and respect that Johnson deserves, all while navigating the complexities of tradition and prejudice in a divided community.
