Plot
Horse trainer Steve Tapley finds himself entangled in a bitter rivalry between the Martingale and Shattuck families. He supports the spirited Nancy Martingale and her wise grandfather, Ezra, as they prepare for a decisive horse race to settle the feud. The stakes are high, but the Martingale's contender, Greyboy, struggles to perform unless the track is muddy—a problem given the ongoing drought. As tensions rise, the outcome of the race could either heal old wounds or deepen the divide between the families.
