Bashu, the Little Stranger (1991)

Plot

Amidst the turmoil of the Iran-Iraq War, young Bashu loses both his home and his family. In his fear, he hides in a truck departing the war-torn region. Upon disembarking in the northern part of the country, he encounters a vastly different landscape and language. There, he meets Naii, a woman struggling to care for her two young kids while her husband is away. Despite the barriers of culture and language between them, Bashu and Naii gradually develop a deep and meaningful connection.
