Five children, aged 9 to 18, grapple with the challenges of stuttering while facing bullying and social stigma across the United States. Their lives take a hopeful turn when they join The Stuttering Association for the Young (SAY) in New York City, an arts-based program designed to empower those who stutter. Many arrive feeling defeated, some even contemplating suicide, burdened by societal expectations and ineffective fluency training. Over the course of a year, these diverse individuals undergo remarkable transformations as they embrace the empowering belief that it’s perfectly okay to stutter.
