Plot

Seventeen-year-old Daje Shelton finds herself at a court-mandated alternative high school after a fight. Determined to reshape her future amidst the struggles of her St. Louis neighborhood, she confronts overwhelming challenges, including the loss of friends to gun violence and her first experience with love, which leads to an unexpected pregnancy with her son, Ahkeem. As Ferguson's unrest unfolds nearby, Daje's personal journey reveals the harsh realities faced by many Black teenagers in America.
