Plot
Set against the backdrop of a sweltering summer day in Detroit, the story unfolds at a family-run convenience store on Six Mile Road. Earl Jenkins, a charismatic father, juggles the demands of running the store alongside his aspirations for his children. His son, Gerard, yearns to break free from the confines of their daily grind, dreaming of culinary school in New York and a future as a chef. Meanwhile, daughter Gail navigates her own ambitions, all while the store serves as a microcosm of their lives and the vibrant community around them.
