The Telltale Heart (1928)

Plot

An unstable man becomes obsessed with his elderly neighbor, initially infatuated but soon consumed by hatred, particularly due to the old man's unsettling gaze. He meticulously devises and carries out a murder under the cover of night. The following morning, police officers arrive, investigating a scream from the previous evening. The man welcomes them, answering their inquiries and even allowing one officer to inspect his eyes, who deems him innocent. As he entertains them with his views on crime, the sound of his own heart amplifies, visually illustrating his mounting psychological turmoil through distorted angles.
