Plot
Young teacher Eva Nygaard journeys from Denmark to Greenland with hopes of reuniting with her fiancé, Doctor Erik Halsøe, only to discover he has moved on and is set to marry his nurse. Stranded in a small fishing village while awaiting her return trip, Eva finds herself in a tumultuous relationship with Jens, a brooding Dane who runs a trading post. As tensions rise, Jens attempts to convince Pavia, a local Greenlander, to join the company as a fisherman, despite Pavia's fears of disrupting his community and angering the spirit known as Qivitoq.
