Plot

Set against the backdrop of 1981 New Zealand's racial strife, Willie, a half-Samoan teen, grapples with his identity. His days are consumed by a job at a department store and caring for his younger brother, Solomon, while navigating his unpredictable father's aggression. A chance meeting with the charismatic and unconventional Bennie introduces Willie to a lawless lifestyle. As he becomes entangled in Bennie's reckless circle of criminals, the safety of Solomon diminishes, exposing him further to their father's violent outbursts and intensifying Willie's struggle to protect his brother.
