Plot

Set in 1920s Provence, a region bustling with immigrants drawn to quarry and agricultural work, Toni, an Italian laborer, settles down with Marie, a local Frenchwoman. Their seemingly stable life soon spirals into a complex web of intense relationships. Toni navigates friendships and rivalries, caught between his loyal friend Fernand and the domineering foreman Albert. Tensions rise with the steadfast Spanish peasant Sebastian and his mischievous cousin Gabi. Amidst this emotional turmoil, Toni must also contend with his feelings for both Marie and the enigmatic Josefa.
