Plot

Brother Number One explores the harrowing story of Kerry Hamill, a New Zealand sailor tortured and killed by the Khmer Rouge in 1978. The documentary chronicles his brother, Rob Hamill, an accomplished Olympic and Trans-Atlantic rower, as he embarks on a poignant journey to Cambodia. Rob seeks to uncover the truth about Kerry's fate by retracing his brother's final steps alongside fellow victim John Dewhirst. Through interviews with witnesses, survivors, and even those involved in the tragedy, Rob confronts a dark chapter of history while honoring his brother’s memory.
