Ornithologist Anna finds herself in Rwanda during the harrowing genocide of 1994, as Hutus systematically target Tutsis. Amidst the chaos, she rescues her colleague's daughter, orphaned by the violence, and brings her to Poland for safety. Despite the trauma, the young woman feels compelled to return to Rwanda to honor her family's memory. The film's director, who initially collaborated with her late husband Krzysztof Krauze, faced the challenge of completing this poignant story alone after his passing in 2014, weaving a narrative of resilience and loss against a backdrop of tragic history.
