Galeen and Wegener’s Der Golem (1915) represents a milestone in early German cinema, while The Story of the Kelly Gang (1906) marks a pivotal moment for Australian filmmaking and its national identity. This groundbreaking work also signals the advent of the feature film format. Unfortunately, only fragmented remnants of the original hour-long production survive, housed at the National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra. Restoration efforts have enabled contemporary viewers to experience this landmark film, which laid the foundation for future Australian cinema.
